Im back, (and PISSED at tribe

Hay all I did NOT delete my page. TRIBE did. I am REALLY pissed about it too…

Basically the way tribe works is if the receive an email that is from your tribe email address with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line they will just delete your account.

So if someone fakes your email address (easy to do, do you have ANY idea how much span I get that is from “me”) They do NOT need a password, they do NOT, need to log in, and you get NO warning that your page is about to be deleted…

At first I could not even log into tribe and I thought the site was down. Even the main log in page was not loading for me. Then I finally got into the site (had to use a different computer) and my log in would no longer work. I contacted Tribe and they told me I “requested” my account be deleted on a Sunday around 12:30pm. There is no way it could have been me because I was at WORK at that time.

Anyway I complained about the situation and tribes response was “too bad” They delete all data so there is no way to restore a deleted account, or friends list or what ever, and they refuse to change this policy or recognize it is an issue.

    Great to see you back Ryan! I was more than a little surprised when your account said "unsubscribed". Does this mean that you have lost all your network friends?.... What a shitter!! Hope the nose has healed too! :-) Billy.

      yes they deleted EVERYTHING. If you see any tribes that i was part but did not rejoin yet please let me know. If you know anyone that was a friend of mine that got deleted you can let them know i am back as well. I was SO pissed at tribe I did not even want to deal with this right after they deleted my account.

    The same thing happened to me, one morning got up and all was gone. I have been rebuilding myself. Have to say thanks to everyone for being patient and thanks for rejoining my network and reinviting me to the private tribes.

      Before I say anything else, I just wanted to say to Jim that his full tribal piece is looks amazing!

      On reading about profiles being deleted, I decided to take a simple precaution to avoid losing details of my friends and favourite tribes. I took screen dumps and saved them in a word document. I'm sure most of you will know how to do this, but just incase you don't, simply open the page that has you lists of friend or tribes, then press the "Print Screen" button at the top of your keyboard. When you open word, right mouse click and paste your screen dump into a new document. I know that you will still have to invite your friends to join your tribe again but at least you have a list to work from.

    I'm really sorry about your experience with Tribe. They deserve at least 50 lashes each for developing such a flawed procedure... and that's before the lowsy customer service you got. That's complete pants.

    But it's really, really good to have you back. This place is very much poorer without you, Cyberblade!

    On BME, I sometimes browse to your main page, but I can't justify the regularity of contributions, getting Shannon's copyright stamped over my pictures or or paying the subscriptions required to maintain a BME account, so I'm unfortunately never going to see any BME friends' blogs beyond their front page. But great to see you again here, and I'll have a look at your myspace page.

      well if you are on myspace you can read my blog there. The posts on iam, and the ones on myspace are identical.

      I won't pay either for a iam membership, I give then the minimum 800X600 photos to get the account. I get the idea of it being a more "closed" community, i just don't understand why they don't just follow the same payment model of advertising like myspace, or something.
