It seams like the more I get the tattooed, the more I want to get tattooed. Every time I get some new ink I am already thinking about what I want to tattoo next, even before the new ink is finished!
I am debating if I should just go ahead an ink the rest of my face all at once so it looks consistent and flows well instead of doing it in steps. Everyone that knows me think I am just going to ink it all anyway.
As for rest of face/head I keep going back and forth between a few concepts. I like tribal, biomechanical, flames, old school, and camouflage (yes the army pattern) or some combination of the above. I honestly think I will be happy with any of the above, just sucks that I don’t have more room!
What do you all think I should go with? I am tempted to just tell my tat artist do what ever he thinks will look best.

Re: does it ever let up
Tue, October 17, 2006 - 8:17 PMLet your artist be creative and do it all quickly. You might consider shaving your head as I think it will let your artist come up with a better design. All the best and looking forward to your complete ink!

Re: does it ever let up
Tue, October 17, 2006 - 8:22 PMI wouldn't leave it entirely up to the artist. I think you should have more of a solid idea which concept you want to go with and then, maybe, let your artist go crazy. That's just my .02.
-
Maybe do all of them?
Tue, October 17, 2006 - 9:28 PMJust a thought off the top of my head, but what if you outlined tribal shapes, the usual zebra stripey, swoopey kind, but inside each, instead of solid black, did the various things you mentioned? One biomech, another flames, another camo, etc? If done right it would be visually interesting, and if you like, later on, could always be blacked out.
Or, do the camo, it is a very cool idea in itself.

Re: does it ever let up
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 1:09 PMtattoos can be a bit of an obsession..i got my first one five months ago and now I have a half sleeve, a full back piece and 13 others on my arms and legs! Only the first one was thought out..the rest were done on impulse..but i love them all. At this point i also just want my tattoo artist to decide what i get next. I think people with half their face tattoed look better because you can compare and contrast the face with and without the tattoos...you can see the person "inside the tattoos and behind the tattoos". -

Re: does it ever let up
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 8:11 PMWell my issue is I know I would be happy with any one of the tattoo concepts I mentioned. My problem is really I just have too little skin and too many tattoo ideas. I was thinking of merging the designs together just to do something unique. TattooJoe I know would prefer to do an all tribal piece. He likes that style allot and likes how it holds up in the long run; although that said, he was surprised at how well my face handles ink. The chin tattoo basically needs no touch ups, where as he is used to the entire design needing touch up to get it to look good.
As for coverage the tattoo on my chin does not look finished to me, and the only way to make it look finished is if it extends further up. I KNOW once I tattoo any closer to the center of my face I am just going to go for a full facial tattoo. -

Re: does it ever let up
Thu, October 19, 2006 - 6:48 PMI know how you feel about too little skin. I still see some tattoos and think that I'd like this or that as a sleeve, but I've run out of arms!
Your chin piece is so distinctive and strong that I think you should stay with that style. But you could certainly do something else underneath in the negative space, as though the tribal was applied over the top. I know someone who has done a sleeve that way as a cover-up, and it looks great--like it was planned that way.

Re: does it ever let up
Fri, October 20, 2006 - 12:07 AMI have seen Joe’s work and he does amazing stuff. I think if you left it up to Joe he would do a great job with any of them. This is my take of your choices.
Tribal – Has been done by many, and when done right, looks great. You have a good start with you chin, but most anything can be added to that and look good.
Biomechanical – This can look great with the shapes of the face and head, but again stating to see more and more of this i.e. on bme.
Flames – This is something that you could mix with other styles, might be hard to plan the whole face / head out with flames, but I am sure it can be done.
Old School – With the ink that you already have, I don’t know if it would compliment or conflict with them
Camouflage – Hmm I don’t think I have seen much, if any camo inked faces, this could be very interesting and could work with other styles, like tribal or flames and the stars you already have…
This is just a thought, I am not trying to put down any type on ink or anything like that, I love face ink and hope to add some to my own face one day. The choice is your and your artist and I am sure you will be happy with the ink you get.

Re: does it ever let up
Fri, October 20, 2006 - 10:37 PMOK I just kind of need to talk out my ideas and figure out eventually what I want to do, lets see if I can describe it…
What I want to do is basically tattoo a black tribal “Mohawk” but instead of having it stop at my hairline, go straight down the middle of my face to my neck. In the tribal design right near where my hairline would be I would tattoo my nick name. My eyebrows I would tattoo flames that connect to the stars I already have. On the sides of my face onto the sides/rest of my head tattoo camouflage with tears in it revealing biomechanical underneath. On my scalp area have the tears revealing brain. I could tattoo the background to the tribal part of the design green to match the camo more, or I could tattoo it a completely different color, or leave it skin town to contrast it more with the camo.
Hope that makes sense. Now I just need to talk to tattoo Joe and see what he thinks. I don’t know if he is going to be feeling the camo idea.
Oh an I kind of like the look of not having the whole face tattooed, but the way I started my chin I cant think of a good way to finish it that does not involve tattooing right up to the middle of my face. Once you tattoo the middle of your face I don’t see a point in not tattooing all of it. I do like the look of the whole face inked as well, where you just kind of see eyes peering out of a tattoo design. -

Re: does it ever let up
Sat, October 21, 2006 - 9:02 AMYour ideas sound excellent. Have you tried to do a drawing of it? or can you photoshop it?
If it were me, yeah, I would bring up the chin work but somehow angle it off towards the ears leaving some of the face open. Then later, if it worked well, just tattoo in the open spaces. There is something to be said about looking at a tattooed face and really just seeing the two eyes. I recall a guy on BME a couple months ago that had what almost looked like a Mexican wrestler's mask. Very hot !!!!! I've met TattooJoe and obviously you've worked well with him, so I'm sure he'll listen to your ideas.
All the best. -

Re: does it ever let up
Mon, October 23, 2006 - 5:03 AMMaybe you need to talk to TattooJoe. After all, he's the expert on facial tattooos,
Tell him about the options you've thought about and even print out this discussion for him.
Then ask him to design a tattoo which will eventually cover your WHOLE head, SKULL, EARS, FACE etc and blend with the monster design under your chin and the scary face on the back of your neck.
Once you have agreed on the final design (remember, you are the one who has to wear it) you can have a little at a time done until your final, magnificent, work of art is complete.

Re: Does it ever let up
Wed, October 25, 2006 - 6:41 AMHaving such vital plans in mind - certainly I do understand, that you feel much occupied about the many details ... I guess, it has to be like that. Especially to make progress in visible tattoos on face and head - you have to find your own solution. Of course it makes sense, to discuss your ideas with friends and with your tattoo artist TattooJoe - finally all about should give you inspiration to come to your decision. Of course I understand, such a way to go isn't easy at all - myself I tend to scrutinize many times before I can confirm my resolution.
As you probably know, I feel very much hooked about your previous steps of your amazing visible tattoos on your neck, the stars and certainly your awesome tribal chin ! How you describe your further projects ... it defines your creative urge to have your face and head entirely done. Actually what a stunning aim ! Now you make your plannings with reasonable care and after finally commiting yourself - soon you're going to have your definition done - your beautiful face is becoming beautifully unique ! WOW !
I hope you won't mind - though, for obvious reasons I envy you so much for your exceptional initiative to realize your desire ... even because of your plucky preoccupation I'm rather sure, you won't regret your progress. You're young but already experienced - therefore think about and find your decision. Myself I usually like to sketch a possible design with a marker pen - somehow that gives me a rough impression how it will look like on the body/face and later on in the mirror I like what I see or I shall continue to work on my notion ...
To me, you're truly clever on your way ... because you involve your friends for your decision-
making and particularely you already know such a talented tattoo-artist as TattooJoe, willing and experienced to work on the face. In my opinion that's the best precondion for a successful achievement.
BTW: I do agree with your opinions about "having facial tattoos in job and social life ..." even in the view of my situation of not [yet] being essentially visible tattooed - actually I've never made certain bad experiences because of my tattoos - mainly in summer-time I show my sleeves and more ... certainly the people react and some dare to ask about ... some like what they see and some don't - though, even in my conservative country, most people, young or more old by age, seem to accept me with my ink and the matter of being gay ... I believe as you do, it's how I react to them. I usually like to be friendly, probably therefore I make kind responses as well.
Here I wish you all the best to attain your goal ! While I'm looking forward to see your upcoming stirring progress !

Re: does it ever let up
Mon, November 6, 2006 - 5:34 PMOK, I'll be the devil's advocate here; and of course, since I have no facial tattoos, you will need to take it with a grain of salt. And before everyone flames me, remember these are my preferences and yours may be different.
I actually don't like the right side tattoo - I prefer facial tattoos that accentuate the curves of the face rather than follow them. I would like to see a bit more done with the ear - the design treats the ear as an obstacle; not sure what it needs, but probably some bending of the design into the ear.
Having said that, the other issue I have is that there's so little on the left side - I like symmetry of density (not necessarily a symmetrical design).
You've done a lot of really good ink in a short amount of time. Consider how you will like each design in 10, 20, or 30 years. Perhaps you might opt for a lighter or less dense design now so that, like tattoo joe, you can change your face later.
But I'm not saying to stop or change what's there. The 'mowhawk' idea is great - what if you took it all the way down your back? -

Re: does it ever let up
Tue, November 7, 2006 - 9:51 PMwell don't forget the design is not finished, and i do plan on inking the other side of my face as well. Along with that i do want to ink my ear as well, I think i will probably wind up going for 100% ink coverage at the rate i am going! lol
Also when it comes to tattoos i like the idea of permanence. I want to avoid changing any tattoos later on in life, i like the idea of what i do will be there till i die. I never see things like laser removal as even an option or consideration. If i was given a choice between ink that was easally removed or ink that is impossible to ever remove, i would go with the impossible to remove ink.

Re: does it ever let up
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 9:48 AMI like your face work a lot... particularly it's rebellion against the natural structure of your face is exciting.
I agree with you... it's a pity there's not enough space to achieve everything we'd like to try out. But for that reason, I'd go for the eclectic mismatch/contrasting themes myself, to enjoy diversity. (^_^)

Re: does it ever let up
Sun, November 26, 2006 - 6:23 PMDon't know am about to find out my tat man is drawing up something now. He drew a lot of his design on my face and head last week for mine and owners approval. What I want to know is my owner wants to do only do 1/2 left or right of face, but is there a difference? Does the left side mean one thing and the right something else? It's supposto be some sort of tribal with sexual things drawn in. I am supposto have the pattern match lines hard tattooed into face and head next week, personaly can;t wait to get inked. I am to have some sort of tribal cock and balls drawn on top of my head with the penis tip starting mid forhead something I wont be able to hide and the cock shaft running down the top of my head and 2 balls kind of hanging down the sides in the back. I want to have the balls hung over a haz mats POZ logo on the back of my head still talking Oh Well Slave Allan -
