The urge....

I keep thinking about my face.... I've tattooed up to my jaw.... but i fear that the face is inevitable. I just tattooed skull and crossbones in front of my ears, and lil stars on my temples. How did others that have taken the step deal? Just did it? or took it in steps... ? I was thinkin chin first maybe?
I cannot imagine how having lots of ink on the face would "feel" from an emotional point of view. So far all the thing I've thought about have happened, huge ears, huge labret etc,,, but i dunno, now this??

Long term facial ink plans

Hi,

I've just discovered this tribe. Good to know there are others out there that need the ink :)

So far I have two full sleeves that end about 1cm from each hand. After a break from the needle for a few years, the urge has returned again big time. I'm aiming to complete a bodysuit within the next five years. Once that is achieved, I intend acquiring some visible ink: bodysuit extended onto neck and throat, followed by hands. The obvious next step for me will be extending neck and throat work onto chin and the rest of the face and scalp. A slow but sure plan for "natural ink seepage" :) I've had the urge for facial ink for more than a decade. It has never gone away; in fact, if anything, it is stronger now than ever. The magazines and Internet usually have some really good facial ink, which only encourages you to do the right thing. I doubt that my current tattoo artist would do the work, so the hunt will be on for an excellent artist with experience in facial ink.

Any others taking a similar approach?

The Bug Is Biting Hard Again...

The tattoo bug started biting hard once again after about a year and a half interval. I've got an appointment set up for June 2nd. I want to get another "artificial sideburn" in front of my right ear to match the one in front of my left ear, approximately the same area and shape. It will consist of a flaming scull, likey done in black and grey.

I'm also now considering what I want on the top of my head, though that may take a while for me to figure out.

First. I would like to thank the guy who took the picture of the 3 guys standing together with the face tattoos and the 3 guys them selves as without that little extra push as it where, I would never be where I am now, picking out artwork to have done all over my face and head.
Maybe someone out there can help me back in early50's mid 60's counter culture era there was a bunch of people who had covert artwork put on the faces/head with buried words in the picture. Kind of like the kids magazine Highlites where you had to look at the picture and find the cow and mailbox ect. I would like to bury some graphic art or words like cock sucker and faggot ect. The trick to the artwork was you had to be real close or like 15+ feet away to read the words or otherwise it was just lines in the picture or pattern. Does anyone know any artist or tattoo person who does/draws such optical work???????? Slave Allan

Considering What Goes On My Scalp...

I'm now considering if I want to fill out the rest of my scalp with ink, and if so, with what artwork. I think it's likely inevitable that I'll want to put something dramatic on top of my scalp to go with the scull that covers the back of my scalp. One idea that appeals to me is to come up with a dramatic black and grey portrait of some sort of face -- perhaps a portrait of my own face, who knows. If I decide to do that, then I need to know what to do with the sides of my head, including the temple areas. I should probably plan everything out as much as possible before I start, something I've really never done in the past.

many people look at this tribe, and ask themselves: who are the tattoo artists who consider tattooing a customers face?
and under what conditions. But the principal question will be - Who Are They! What credentials have they?
Nobody would trust his face to a side show tattooist - unless he is a famous one (of course)
Is it a quality condition that the artist be tattooed on the face as well?

And privately, my own inquest is: can you recommend one in europe who specialises in tribal facials.

Im back, (and PISSED at tribe

Hay all I did NOT delete my page. TRIBE did. I am REALLY pissed about it too…

Basically the way tribe works is if the receive an email that is from your tribe email address with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line they will just delete your account.

So if someone fakes your email address (easy to do, do you have ANY idea how much span I get that is from “me”) They do NOT need a password, they do NOT, need to log in, and you get NO warning that your page is about to be deleted…

At first I could not even log into tribe and I thought the site was down. Even the main log in page was not loading for me. Then I finally got into the site (had to use a different computer) and my log in would no longer work. I contacted Tribe and they told me I “requested” my account be deleted on a Sunday around 12:30pm. There is no way it could have been me because I was at WORK at that time.

Anyway I complained about the situation and tribes response was “too bad” They delete all data so there is no way to restore a deleted account, or friends list or what ever, and they refuse to change this policy or recognize it is an issue.

well i finally after much delay inked the other side of my face, and went back over the rest of my face work to touch it up and fill it all in. I no longer feel out of balance side to side, but the design still does not look "finished" to me. I really don't think i will be happy till i am fully inked.

Im not asking this to be a dick - Im serious. The other day I was on the train coming home, and this guy came on - basically totally covered in facial tattoo. Everybody looked at him as if he was a leopar. Now, to each his own, whatever - but unless you really crave attention, do you really want the kind of treatment this guy gets, everywhere he goes ? What about when you get older - say, 45 ? Ever think how your going to be percieved, how it may effect potential relationships or your ability to meet other people ? And Im sure youve already been asked - what about your career ? By now, Im sure you have looked back on things you may have done, and realized how stupid your decisions may have been - did you ever think that perhaps you will think that way of your facial tottoo ? You know, everybody changes as they get older - people who swear they are in love for like 20 years, eventually fall out. Can you be sure you wont regret the facial tatto at 50 ? I only ask because it fascinates me how anybody could not be concerned with these things - I wish I could be so unconcerned with my career potential, my potential to meet other people, and yes - what other people think. You have to march to your own beat, sure - but at the same time, it *does* matter what people think in this world - at least to some extent. Only a fool thinks they can go through life and never give a crap about what anybody else thinks. First impressions will get you a job, a girlfriend, a loan, etc - this stuff matters. Do any of you worry ?

It seams like the more I get the tattooed, the more I want to get tattooed. Every time I get some new ink I am already thinking about what I want to tattoo next, even before the new ink is finished!

I am debating if I should just go ahead an ink the rest of my face all at once so it looks consistent and flows well instead of doing it in steps. Everyone that knows me think I am just going to ink it all anyway.

As for rest of face/head I keep going back and forth between a few concepts. I like tribal, biomechanical, flames, old school, and camouflage (yes the army pattern) or some combination of the above. I honestly think I will be happy with any of the above, just sucks that I don’t have more room!

What do you all think I should go with? I am tempted to just tell my tat artist do what ever he thinks will look best.

white facial tats

can anyone tell me more about white ink and if it actually does fade/disappear? that would be an issue cus the face/head is constantly exposed to sunlight. and is this is an uncommon ink, is it wise to find someone who has experience, or is it not much different from other colors? is it true that it takes several applications of the white ink to stay?

I know there are countless examples of facial tattoos in film, and most of them not very favourable examples. But how great is it to see them in a respected way in X-Men 3?

Some people might not see Callisto and her Morlocks as positive characters, or their marks as beautiful, but it appears at least, that THEY find their marks to be beautiful. One of the underlying conflicts and ironies in the comics between X-Men and Morlocks, is that both groups are mutants. However, the X-Men (when they first met the Morlocks at least) could always pass for human and function in our world. --sometimes with the aid of hologram disguises, but that's another issue between them--

The Morlocks however, were "marked" and that's why they stayed underground. In the comics, they were marked because of their heavy mutation, something they couldn't choose. The movie uses facial tattoos, most likely because it's millions of dollars cheaper than making several CGI mutated persons, but it changes their dynamic. Now, it's their decision. Their choice to distinguish themselves as mutants--as "other."

Now, I'm not a mutant. But I am "other." And when I got my face tattooed, that was something I felt, the idea of putting out to the world that I am not a part of it.

How do we feel about this?

Hi everyone...this site has been so quiet, yet I know many guys whos ultimate fantasy is the full facial ink...to me it is my lifes dream, but for another 12 years, real life, bills and mortgage get in the way..

Facial Tats In The Bod Mod World

It's been rather quiet in this tribe so I thought I'd bring up a topic that's been on my mind. In my experiences within the bod mod world I have come across a great deal of hypocrisy concerning facial tattoos. It seems people who have them are too extreme & must be crazy. I have come across a person into suspension who said I "messed up my face", & others in the tattoo "community" who feel I'm too extreme. I find this very interesting & hypocritical. What are your thoughts & experiences concerning this?

Yesterday, I tattoo'd the juggalo clown face from the Insane Clown Posse on half of Ross's face !
I did it two shades of blue and a black outline..
2 years ago I tattoo'd the other side of his face with 4 different colours of phospherous ink , veins exploding outward from his eye.
I can't get my pic's I took until Monday but I'll definately be back and post em.

MOKO For Maori Only?

I looked at a Mori web site a couple of years back. I've never considered getting a Moko tattoo. It seemed disrespectfull to me. I'mnot a Maori and it's a specific cultural identifier.

On the site my perspective was confirmed. Maori find non Maoris with Moko inspired images as a kind of theft.

Facial tattoo addicted ... !

As a teenager I found out about my strong feelings about tattoos ;-) obviously towards inked hunks, too. At that time tattooing wasn't popular, even not in in my country Switzerland - though, I felt sometimes strongly addicted to ink myself by using sewing-needles and black Pelikan ink. It took me a few years, until I met a tattooist for my first tattoo at his newly opened studio in my city - actually at that first appointment I got two tattoos, an eagle on my left and afterwards I was ready for a snake on my right arm. Really I had a great time ! Later I came in contact to the Londoner gay tattoo scene - there was a ink related community and I was happy to find like-minded friends and buddies - some were skins and punks with visible tattoos on hands, neck, head or even the face ! Certainly I've been truly fascinated about - while I got regularely tattooed while some times staying in London in the 80-ies, I got my arms sleeved and some more ink on my chest, back, legs ... Occasionally I was visiting some studios ... and there was a tattooist, known being willed tattooing the face - I went there several times and more than once, I realised that certain obsession for getting something done. At least I chickened out ! For about twenty years since I think about: Would I regret having it done or should I even more regret not having it done ?! During the years I met some heavily inked and facial tattooed hunks at conventions ... or I've seen pics in magazine and books or on the net - still I know the strong feelings for facial ink ! After quite some time of not getting inked - I found my future goal getting my body heavily tribal inked - now, I'm looking for a tattooist, who likes to do it and certainly one I can afford. I want him to ink all the outlines, though on those body areas, where I'll be able to reach, I'd enjoy to ink myself - already I got most of the equipment together, again ... I guess, after my body will be done - I should have more visible tattoos - my left hand is inked and I really love it - which actually means, I want both hands entirely done - and I'm keen for having something on my neck ;-) and where the neck ends towards the face and/or the head, this I don't know, yet ! For twenty-five years there is a spot self-inked on my left cheek under the eye :-) like others addicted to facial tattoos, sometimes I've the need to draw with a pen in my face - tough, let me find out, if it ever will happen for real. Definitely such a decision needs a strong courage to take - because it will change some easy circumstances in a live ! During the years I was lucky to meet some face-tattooed hunks, who could stand it and obviously it opened thier mind ! Why none of them talked about regretting it ? But I've read of a few, who argued about having some problems out of the matter of having their face tattooed. Though, there's a weird feeling for the tattooed face - let me find out about, if I'll ever take such a chance !

has anyone with face tatts regreted have them, or wished they would have choosen a different design? I think facial tattooing is the ultimite frontier , there is no turning back or hiding them, I want this so bad but I have a daughter who means very much to me and she would die if I had it done. She is the only reason that I'm holding back.
How do I overcome this hurdle to my #1 desire?

Hi all! I'm a 49 yr old working tattoo artist from Melbourne Australia. I'm married with 6 kids & 7 grandkids. I've kind of copped out on the facial tattooing in a way. My face is tattood in "invisible" white UV ink with Celtic warriors spirals, which I plan on extending to the other side of my face & along my cheekbones, in keeping with Celtic tradition. I have no regrets I did it, & the only reason I opted for "invisible" was as a result of a promise made many years ago to my mother that I wouldn't get "tattoos all over my face" while she was alive. The UV means I could keep both of us happy, & I intend redoing them in blue after she passes on. My wife has a Celtic chin tattoo (even if the ill-educated tend to think it's ta-moko!) along with a crescent moon between her eyes. I believe facial tattoos are just like any other tattoo... well done or poorly executed & it's the skill of the artist concerned that makes them either beautiful or repulsive. Either way, they are one of the most definitive statements it's possible to make about your commitment to the art of tattoo. Full credit to all who take the plunge!

facial tats in New Zeeland

Group facial tattooing

A general question... would you prefer to get a facial tattoo as a sole experience, or would it be better as part of a group exercise.

I wonder if I would be more likely to have a substantial face tattoo if I was part of a group. I imagine that the peer pressure would play a part, but it would be good to see other people's faces being done.

What do you think?

I was on BME this am and there are some pics of some great new ink on a fella's face and neck. This truly solid work and well fitted to the guys face and neck. Congrates to the artist and the wearer.
